10 Essential Items in my Functional Planning Space

I love love LOVE to plan! Creative planning is my outlet and my therapy! Perhaps you are like me and LOVE planning. Check out my planning space and the 10 essential items that I have in it to make it functional!

Cube Storage Furniture

As you can see, I have two pieces of cube furniture in my planning space. Both are from Ikea. I have one 2×2 and one 4×4. These are SO AMAZING in storing ALL of the things. One day, I’ll make everything all color coordinated and neat. For now, it is FUNCTIONAL.

Simple Table

I love this simple table from Ikea because it adds on to the cube storage with perfect simplicity. I’m a little obsessive over my furniture in my creative spaces being a light and airy color… so I matched it with the same white as the cube shelves.

Pegboard

I cannot even describe how INCREDIBLY USEFUL the pegboard in my planning space is. I use it primarily for storing my sticker books. This keeps the stickers neat and organized and easily accessible. I also hang cheap buckets from the party section of Walmart up to keep less used pens and markers organized and out of the way.

Pen Holders

As mentioned above, I love grabbing the $1 buckets from the party section of Walmart to use on my pegboard to organize my pens. I also have additional cups and organizers all over the place on the table and rolling cart to organize my more frequently used pens and highlighters.

Rolling Cart

I got this rolling cart from Ikea back when I was teaching and rolling carts were A NEW THING. If I were to purchase another one, I’d get it from Michaels! They have some really cool ones that can have add ons to the sides.

I use my rolling cart to hold my cutting supplies, free standing stickers, and other planning necessities. I put all of the random things in little containers inside of the rolling cart.

Printer

A high quality printer is a MUST! Mine is a discontinued Epson printer that I LOVE. It has 6 different ink cartridges, which seems like a lot, but the ink lasts FOREVER and prints super high quality!

Ring Lights

If you film YouTube videos, these ring lights are a MUST have!!

Lamp

The ring lights often don’t provide QUITE enough light for my planning videos… so I have a lamp on my table in addition to the ring lights. I also use the lamp when I’m not filming!

Washi Tape Organizer

I got my Washi Tape Organizer at Michaels! You can also find them on Amazon or other craft stores. This has been SO important in keeping my space clean and organized… those washi tapes can easily get thrown all over the place.

My dogs also LOVE to chew up washi tape… which is really irritating. So, putting it in this container is so helpful.

A Great Chair!

Truth: I hardly sit down when I’m planning.

Is anyone else this way?

Anyways, I have a feeling that most people DO actually like to sit down to plan. So, a good chair is a must! I keep this chair that my grandmother painted for me.
