Books

I decided, mid-summer 2019, to take some time for some self-love and MAKE time for indulging in reading. I love to read – I always have. However, I am usually pretty quick to get so wrapped up in the business of life and I just skip reading and get busy with my work. Another problem I’ve always had with reading is I will find a REALLY AWESOME BOOK or an ADDICTING BOOK SERIES and then I get so angry when it’s over that I quit reading altogether for a while!

I’ve decided that both of these things have to stop. I love looking up books that are super popular during a particular year or season… but I also love just walking in to the library and browsing the titles and picking something completely random.

I thought that here, on this page at Designing Tomorrow, that I would just make a list of ALL the books I’ve read and order them from favorite to least favorite. Now, I’m not going to think back to all of the books I’ve EVER read in my life… just starting in summer 2019 and forward! So if you’re reading this moments after I started making this list, it may be boring and short. Check back often! It will grow! **All books will be linked to Amazon for a quick reference for you, however, I find most at my local library!**

  • Ben Hur by Carol Wallace
    • Many of you have probably seen this movie. I have watched it TWICE on a Delta airplane. I was expecting a very similar book to the movie… however, this book is 90% NOTHING like the movie. It’s FAR better. After the movie, I always wondered why the book’s subtitle was “A tale of the Christ” when Jesus was only featured a few times during the movie – hardly a main part of the plot. That is not the case in the book. This book is PACKED FULL of twists and turns. Don’t get me wrong, you will recognize bits and pieces of the movie in the book… but it is VERY different. As usual, the book far exceeds the movie.
  • The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory
    • GAHH I love reading almost anything about King Henry the 8th! I have also loved everything I’ve ever read by Philippa Gregory ~ Her books are amazing! I have TWO copies of this book (the second purchased when I thought I lost the first) and I have it on audiobook! Personally, I enjoyed the audiobook better than reading the book!
  • Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard
    • I really enjoy this show so I thought I’d give the book series a try. I’m looking forward to getting the next three books in the series because the entire book was the first episode of the show!
  • The Good Thief by Hannah Tinti
    • This was one of those books that I walked into the library, picked a random aisle, picked a random shelf, and picked a random book. It’s not a BAD book by any means, but I’ve had a hard time getting into it.
