The Lord did a lot of work in my heart over 2025. One of the areas He worked really intensely on is the types of books that I had been reading. I was reading The Zodiac Academy series, which I was actually loving, and He kept convicting me over the terrible language and (near constant) spicy scenes that were in the books. I realized that, even though I wasn’t seeking out the books because of those elements, it was not helping my walk with the Lord. If anything, it was a giant hinderance. I want to seek the Lord in all things – and filling my mind with books that have F bombs and spicy scenes on nearly every page was not honoring God. So, this year I’m reading books that are either missing those elements completely or very minimal.
How I Love to Read my Books
I’ve been an avid reader for years, and my reading habits have changed over time. At first, I bought every book on my TBR from Target or Amazon. Eventually, that became expensive—and I ran out of space to store all the books once I finished them.
Next, I tried finding popular books at the library, but that wasn’t always easy. In the end, I switched to using my Kindle, especially while traveling and carrying books around the world. While I still love the feel of a physical book and turning real pages, using a Kindle saves so much space both at home and in my bag.
My husband recently bought me the new Kindle Colorsoft for Christmas – and I love it!
I also pay for KindleUnlimited – it’s 100% worth it. I’ve been able to find about 75% of my reading wishlist included in the plan. If you’re a big reader – I highly suggest this!
