Today is our pup’s birthday! My daughter LOVES planning parties… and the doggie birthdays are no exception.

For our Husky’s birthday back in February, we went to a local pet bakery and picked up a delicious treat for her. Princess’ birthday is not working the same way because of the COVID-19 shelter in place order.

Okay so… obviously this is the HUSKY. Our other dog, Princess has a really hard time sitting like a normal dog because her back legs are no good anymore. She’s only 3… but the arthritis in her knees make it so hard on her to “sit”. She lays most of the time. So, Sky (the husky) was my model for this picture.

I started researching a variety of puppy cake recipes that I could make with the ingredients that I already had at home. I found a few that I thought were really interesting… but I kept thinking about how the dogs REALLY love this, or would really love that… so I decided to just create my own.

The pups LOVED it. Like, demolished their slices in 2 seconds.

The best part is – it’s SO EASY.

Here are some notes for this easy puppy birthday cake recipe:

  • I literally just threw all of the ingredients in my Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer and let it do all of the work!
  • For the icing, I used my Kitchen Aid hand mixer and just whipped it up until it was nice and firm. SO EASY.
  • To put the icing on the cake neatly, I put all of the icing in a gallon sized bag. I pushed all of it down to one corner of the bag and snipped the end of the bag off. It essentially became a makeshift icing bag!
  • I suggest storing the cake in the fridge because of the icing. It will lose its firmness if its out in room temp for too long.
